Isan Creative Festival 2022 – Another Year of Creating, Preserving, and Promoting 

While the atmosphere can be discouraging and morale may deteriorate, we will not give up on obstacles or abandon the fun and joy that are considered to be unique characteristics of the Isan people. Isan Creative Festival will as well never stop creating, inheriting wisdom, and promoting local businesses in order for the people of Isan to pass through this hardship for a better future.

Since the festival’s inception in 2019, at TCDC Khon Kaen, Isan Creative Festival has continuously promoted the economy and driven ideas of ​​urban development through creativity, innovation, and collaboration. We introduce the cultural assets, creativity, and business potential of Isan products in the form of creative events, art installations, and thought-provoking activities. The latest Isan Creative Festival, held in 2021, increased cooperation with creators throughout Isan and expanded festival and exhibition spaces into the centre of Khon Kaen under the theme of “Isan Crossing”.

Due to the spread of COVID-19, awareness and access to the festival may be somewhat limited. As Isan Creative Festival 2022 will be held from February 25–March 6, 2022, we would like to take this opportunity to once again introduce the festival and explain the purposes of the event in a hope that you will gain a better understanding of it. Perhaps you will find the event and activity that you have been waiting for a long time; it may also be an experience that rekindles creativity and enjoyment during this challenging time.

Isan Creative Festival is an intellectual playground for works showcased by the collaboration between CEA Khon Kaen, creative entrepreneurs, creator network, public and private sectors, and civil society, in keeping with the Isan environment and identity, which encompasses amusement, diversified culture and tradition. The festival is presented through exhibitions and showcases, and it highlights three of the region’s most notable creative industries: entertainment, food, and crafts. All creations go through the industrial value-adding process.

Isan Creative Festival demonstrates Isan’s potential in local, business, social and cultural aspects. Creative businesses, services, and tourism are also promoted at the festival by integrating neighbourhoods’ storytelling, people, local businesses, and local products, as well as assisting local companies in the area to profit from district enhancement. All of these findings, however, support more than just business driving but also improve people’s wellbeing and society’s quality, as well as the community’s capacity for long-term self-development.

Isan Creative Festival is set to serve three main objectives: (1) encouraging creative industries by bringing together designers and businesses to create new design visions and expand the network for creative industries enhancement; (2) adding value to the cultural capital and local assets and creating opportunities for businesses to capitalize on cultural capital and local assets, by utilizing creativity and design to improve quality of life and revenue; and (3) advancing creative cities by developing new technology-based facilities and utilities to support design work and foster collaboration with other creative city networks.
